About Parent University

  • This winter the Grandview School District is headed out into our community, reaching out to parents and families and working to empower them to get involved in their child's education.

From December through March, we have a series of five classes planned throughout our community. We'll be meeting people in school buildings, at community locations and anywhere else our community comes together. Each meeting is open to the community and will focus on one or two of the 7 Golden Rules of Empowerment. Every meeting will have a kindergarten through 12th grade focus – we're looking at the big picture – how to empower our families to support each and every student in our community in order to help them be academically successful. We want the Grandview School District to be a place of parent empowerment, where our families are comfortable asking questions and advocating for their students.

Each of our GSD Parent University classes will build on each other. Everyone is invited to attend each of the classes. All of the classes will focus on grades kindergarten through 12th grade regardless of where the class is being held and which school is sponsoring it. People who have perfect attendance at our GSD Parent University – those who attend all five classes – will receive a certificate of completion, a GSD parent resource toolkit as well as a chance to win prizes.

Each of our GSD Parent University classes will begin at 6 p.m. and last anywhere from one hour to an hour and a half. Every meeting will include dinner and childcare. To RSVP for the events, please call the phone number for the school hosting the event.
