Building Stronger Schools Through Partnership

The Yakima Valley School Psychology Consortium (YVSPC) is a partnership between school districts in central WA and universities across WA working together to expand school psychology services for students.

Through the consortium, graduate students completing their training as school psychologists participate in supervised internships within participating school districts. Interns gain valuable professional experience while helping increase support for student learning, behavior, and mental health.

To strengthen support systems for students and help ensure that schools across central WA have access to high-quality school psychology services.

Many rural communities face a shortage of school psychologists. The YVSPC helps address this need by bringing additional services to students while also training future professionals who may choose to work in local schools.

The Impact

Through the consortium, interns have the opportunity to:

• Expand access to school psychology services
• Support student learning, behavior, and mental health
• Provide meaningful training opportunities for current graduate students in an approved School Psychology Program
• Strengthen the school psychology workforce in rural communities
• Build a pathway for future school psychologists to serve central WA

During Your Internship, You Will Have Opportunities To:

• Provide student assessments
• Support interventions
• Provide mental health services
• Work directly with students and school teams
• Collaborate with experienced school psychologists
• Participate in a variety of rural diverse school settings
• Develop competencies required for the school psychology profession
• Help lead MTSS
