About Dr. Rob Darling
Dr. Rob Darling earned his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and his Doctoral degree from City University of Seattle, and his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Scranton. He began his career in education as an intensive early intervention autism teacher and first-grade teacher in Port Angeles and then spent six years with the Mercer Island School District as a first and second grade teacher and instructional coach. Dr. Rob Darling worked six years as a principal in the Selah School District, then served for 4 years in Yakima School District as an Assistant Superintendent / Deputy Superintendent. He has initiated state-recognized dual language programs in Selah and Yakima, pioneered the implementation of preK-5 social-emotional learning programs, and was a planning principal for two buildings after successful bond passage. He serves as a member of OSPI’s Dual Language Taskforce and Steering Committees, as a board member for Washington Association for Bilingual Education, and has been a professional development presenter on SEL, Dual Language, Educational Leadership, Equity, and Increasing Student Engagement and Growth across WA, OR, CA, Brazil and South Korea. He speaks Portuguese and Spanish. Dr. Darling has also worked as an adjunct professor for Heritage University, City University of Seattle, and Seattle Pacific University.
Prior to his career in education, Darling worked as a pavement maintenance contractor, volunteer firefighter/EMT, athletic director and collegiate coach. He graduated from Port Angeles High School. Rob and his wife Erin are proud parents of 6 sons and a daughter. Outside of work, Dr. Darling is a talented pianist who loves doing construction projects, playing ball and coaching his kids, and spending time with his family.
