Dr. Luz Prieto
Dr. Prieto is passionate about working collaboratively with community, regional, and state level partners to prepare the next generation of students for college and career opportunities. “I am thrilled to serve as the Grandview School District Executive Director of Federal and State Programs! Our work together is necessary to remove barriers and prepare our students for social citizenship in our communities.”
Dr. Prieto holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, with an emphasis in organizational development. She currently serves on many educational and administrative boards, and her duties include leadership of all schools PreK-12, support for all Federal and State Programs, and coordination and collaboration across a variety of departments in collaboration with Teaching and Learning departments, as well as staff professional development, student interventions, school improvement efforts and program compliance. She is a proud member of WASA and continues to serve and work closely with many leadership teams across the State: State Advisory Council (SAC President for the OSPI Migrant Education Program), Earth Gen Advisory Committee for Migrant/Bilingual/Native Education, Title/LAP Grant Managers Teams, Yakima Valley Community College CAMP advisory board, and is a member of the Yakima Valley Partners for Education.
Dr. Prieto began in education as a middle school paraeducator in Special Education and has enjoyed working in a variety of roles in public education, in addition to her time as an instructor at Yakima Valley Community working with adult learners. Prior to her current position, she served as the Grandview School District Professional Development/Curriculum Coordinator, 21st Century Site Supervisor, and taught at Harriet Thompson Elementary in the Dual Language Program.
Dr. Prieto is a National College Honor Society member and earned numerous educational and professional honors during her tenure as an educational professional teacher and central office administrator, along with being recognized as the State Federal Programs Director in 2018. Of all her accomplishments, Dr. Prieto is most proud of her family. Dr. Prieto and her husband welcomed their first granddaughter April of 2024 and they are proud parents of three daughters who have all benefited from the educational opportunities the Grandview School District has provided.
