Closure Meal Program

  • June 19, 2020

We are excited to announce that our Summer Meal Service will begin on Monday, June 22, and go through August 21.

The program will look very similar to the district's Closure Meal Service. The only major change to our Summer Meal Service is that meal service will only be four days a week, instead of five. We will be offering meals Monday through Thursday, doing a two-day distribution on Thursday to cover Friday. This means children will still receive five days worth of breakfast and lunch, it will just be delivered over four days.

We will continue to offer meal pickup (Monday through Thursday) from 12 to 1 p.m. at both Arthur H. Smith and McClure Elementary schools. We will also continue to deliver meals by bus, through both our in-town community bus stops and along our rural bus routes. We do want to note that several of our bus routes will likely be condensed so meal drop-off times could vary a bit while we work to find our new normal.

We will also continue to offer meals (left overs) for adults. Adults can pick up meals between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, in the district office parking lot. It's first come, first served.

We are excited to announce that our Closure Meal Service will continue through Friday, June 19. The extension will ensure our families continue to have access to breakfast and lunch every weekday as we all continue to work through this pandemic. The delivery schedule, drop-off locations and left over pick up will remain the same.

    Other meal service items:
    • Any students who can not physically get to a bus stop for meal delivery, but still needs meals is asked to contact our Food Service Director Marcia Wagner at (509) 882-8532 to make arrangements.
    • Our school closure meal service buses do not have traditional bus routes. Depending on how many people are at a stop or if a stop has be added, the buses may arrive at different times. Our buses are out every weekday from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

    April 3, 2020

We want to announce an update to our meal service. Beginning on Monday, April 6, we will be going from a three-day-a-week meal delivery schedule back to a five-day-a-week meal delivery schedule. This means we’ll deliver meals every weekday. This will allow us to continue to ensure our students have access to five days of breakfast and lunch. Meal delivery times and locations will remain the same, the only thing changing is the number of days we are physically delivering meals. This also means that left over meals will now be available for pick up by adults every weekday. The times for pick up will remain the same.

We want to announce a change to our meal service. Beginning on Monday, March 30, we will be going from a five-day-a-week meal delivery schedule to a three-day-a-week meal delivery schedule. This means on Monday, we will deliver meals for Monday and Tuesday, on Wednesday we’ll deliver meals for Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday we will deliver meals for Friday. This ensures our children are still receiving five-days worth of meals, while limiting the exposure of both our families and our workers. Meal delivery times and locations will remain the same, the only thing changing is the number of days we are physically delivering meals. This also means that left over meals will only be available for pick up by adults on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and again, the times for pick up will remain the same.

    Other meal service items:
    • Any students who can not physically get to a bus stop for meal delivery, but still needs meals is asked to contact our Food Service Director Marcia Wagner at (509) 882-8532 to make arrangements.
    • Any students who have a nut allergy and have been receiving meals need to be aware that beginning the week of March 30 there will be days when peanut butter is used. Please contact Food Service Director Marcia Wagner at (509) 882-8532 to ensure students with this food allergy have access to a nut-free alternative.
