On Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, more than 110 parents gathered at Harriet Thompson Elementary School to take part in our first of five GSD Parent University classes set to take place between December 2018 and March 2019. The focus of these classes is to empower our families.
The theme of the first class was Golden Rule #1: We must make quality time with the family a priority. Speaker Sarah Schmahl spoke to parents about the importance of spending time together as a family. During the class, participants used a pencil box to create either a family fun box filled with ideas for activities they can do as a family or a no phone zone box that can be used for everyone to deposit their phones so families can focus on their time together.
